Wall Mounted Aquariums
Wall mounted aquariums are a wonderful option for those of us who would like to save some space and at the same time have the benefit of "living art" in their home.
Wall mounted aquariums come with a host of distinct advantages as compared to the conventional type of fish tanks.
Here are some of those advantages at a glance:
wow factor
- enhanced user experience
- conversation starter
- space saver
- time saver
- out of reach by children, pets or guests
- no worries about the tank being tipped over
- lower maintenance requirements
- lights, filter and pump cords can be hidden
Luckily for us, Betta fish lovers, the guidelines for stocking fish in a wall mounted aquarium are that the fish should be less than 1.5 times the width of the tank. So, if your aquarium is four inches wide, you should not stock it with fish that are larger than 2.5 to 3.0 inches long. That means that our Bettas, usually about 2 inches long as adults, can work well in wall mounted aquariums. We can also keep minnows, guppies and small tetras.
Aqua Bella aquariums
Another, very interesting development is a patented organic formula from Aqua Bella which keeps your water continuously clean and maintenance free. So, with an Aqua Bella aquarium, there are no water changes for a year!
Their proprietary enzyme formula is added in once per year to salt or fresh water. It is a product that has revolutionized this industry. It organically maintains oxygen levels and metabolizes ammonia and nitrites, living on the waste product of fish and keeping the water crystal clear.
The aquarium is ready to add fish in 4 hours after initial power up instead of the usual week of conditioning at the very least.
Also gone is the hassle of cords and plugs getting caught under your feet.
Wall mounted aquariums require less maintenance so you can save valuable floor space, have added safety from children upsetting the tank and the joy of having stunning, colorful fish floating along side them in a dream environment.
Make sure you get a large enough tank, if you are leaning toward a wall mounted aquarium. With reduced surface, your fish may not otherwise get the required amount of air flow through the tank.
If you are not a do–it–yourself kind of a person, it's best to hire a professional to install it for you. Otherwise, just follow the instructions included with the aquarium. Most of them come with steel brackets (can hold up to 800 lbs.) which need to be attached to studs (16–24 inches apart depending upon your wall studs) with supplied hardware – you can adjust it to your needs. You can also attach the brackets to a cement wall.
